Optimism and trust of Coalition members on Abdul Gani Mir,IPS,IGP Kashmir inspired us to reach J&K Police by adopting unconventional approach to seek support of such people who have temparament and perceptions to help public. Office bearers of Coalition for Police Reforms From People’s Perspective, led by Aridaman Jit Singh,Director,Nishan and Dr.Seikh Ghulam Rasool did call on IGP and briefed him about the PRPP Campaign and sought his cooperation.
After establishing the Coalition For Police Reforms From People’s Perspective, while we were discussing about the strategy on how to take along whom all on this juorney for justice, we were adviced by local fellow activists with few names who were upright, honest and always willing to help public and name of Abdul Gani Mir,IG was the one and our call to him was received by equal optimism and trust.
In last seven years of experience in activism with establishment, we have generally experienced that while the upright and honest officers are always acessible and ready to support, the ones who have public reputation of being corrupt or compromising have been found not only unprofessional and arrogant but also inacessible.
We briefed the IGP about establishment of Coalition for PRPP and introduced the coalition office bearers and received positive committment for cooperation and support.
