There was an inspiring response from Kurukshetra University's Public Administration Department after our Police Reforms from the People's Perspective Workshop held on 25th Feb 2012. Following the workshop, Nishan was invited to give a similar presentation to scholars from around the country at the “Emerging Issues in Indian Administration” seminar at Kurukshetra University, held by the Department of Pubic Administration.
Workshop-Police Reforms Peoples' Perspective-25th Feb 2012
A joint workshop in colloboration with Department of Public Administration, University of Kurukshetra and Team Nishan held at R.K.Sadan at Kurukshetra university campus. The joint workshop was 1st of its kind in the country where front line police officers from each police station of district Police kurukshetra, members of district bar association, Municaipal councillors and community leaders and the heads of social and religious organization participated and as a sequel to the work shop founded the Kurukshetra Vigilant citizens committee for security and justice to monitor the long term sustainable reforms in security and justice sector through participatory campaigning.

On 17th Team Nishan organized a joint presentation for district police representatives from local police stations of Kurukshetra town and the Municipal councillors and briefed them of the pitfalls of existing police system and the need of reforms.

All our attempts in past years from 2006 through letters and telephone calls had failed to yield any positive results to seek cooperation from BPRD. This year on 06th Jan 2012 we again make the bid but finally after waiting for 4 weeks, we reached in person to meet the DG BPRD As part of Police Reforms Peoples' Perspective Campaign, Team Nishan took its initiative "Better Together" to BPRD and met Mr.Vikram Srivastava,IPS Director General BPRD on 01st Feb 2012 from 1100-1210 Hrs. and briefed him of participatory campaigning for citizens and police officers and discussed in detail the impending work shop at Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra on 25-26th Feb 2012. This workshop is dedicated to challenges of democratic policing.
IPS leadership has failed police in Indian states
All the reforms on Indian police are being propogated by IPS leadership that itself is the part of problems of police in respective states. Former Commissioner of Delhi Police and now Governor of Nagaland Mr.Nikhil Kumar has accepted this fact that has been being higlighted by Team Nishan in its Campaign on police reforms

Transition to democracy never happened in India. Inspite of 64 years of indepence,The colonial police of Delhi has been invoking the colonial laws to violate the fundamental rights of citizens of India. In protest against this violation of fundamental rights Team Nishan moved the people in districts of Kaithal,Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra for peaceful protests and also courted arrest with thousands of others Protesters at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on 16th August 2011 at 1630 hrs.

During the month of May 2011 while Team Nishan got an invitation from Sangat Television of UK to join their campaign on truth of 1984 with an interview of Nishan Director on the issue of Fake encounters by police in India, little we knew that the work of this new channel will be winning accolades from British Prime Minister by getting heart to the action of riots in Uk. Prime Minister david Cameron appreciated Sangat Television in UK Parliament on its coverage of riots in Birmingham.

Gory Face of Police Apathy Exposed by Brutal Rape and murder of teenaged sweety
Team Nishan succeeded in mobiliging the civil society groups and organizations at Karnal, Kaithal and Kurukshetra against police apathy in the case of Sweety who became victim of brutal gang rape and murder on 4th May 2011. We prepared the memorandum on Police apathy with demands and it was signed by the representatives of all the civil socity organizations of respective districts of Karnal, Kaithal and Kurukshetra and submitted to concerned DCs.
Security Forces- The Face of Governance in Naxal insurgency areas
Indian Border Security Force organized a seminar at BSF Academy Tekanpur on 7-8 April 2011 in which officers from 10th Batch of AC(DE) particiapted from all over the country, including Ex-Officers who charted their own paths after taking voluntary retirement. Mr.Aridaman Jit Singh,Director Nishan, who happens to be the alumnus of this academy also joined this reunion seminar.
