Mr.Aridaman Jit Singh & Mr.Anil Viz, MLA Ambala Cantt. addressing the media on Police Reforms from People’s Perspective campaign

As a sequel to PRPP Campaign Team Nishan approached the BJP MLA from Ambala Cantt. constituency and requested him to express his solidarity with the campaign dedicated to democratisation of police. The overwhelming response to the campaign was demonstratively visible from the fact that it was not only Mr.Anil Viz, MLA who spared his time to bless the campaign but his supporters had mobiliged the press people in large number and took keen interest in listening to overall camapign strategy. Some of his party workers were so excited about the campaign that they narrated their own woes of police apathy and wanted to begin from that very moment.

On this occasion,Mr Anil Viz, MLA for Ambala Cantt agreed that the current police structure that is paramilitary based structure was creadeted by colonial rulers to maintain their hegemony and act as an arm of oppression to exploit the masses but  with independence we should have brought changes to it to make it suitable for democratic aspirations of the citizens of the nation. He highlighted that it is not only Police Institution that needs structural changes to make it performance oriented but almost each and every governance institution that was created by colonial rulers needs to be radically reformed to make it suitable to the democratic aspirations of the citizens and make these governance institutions performance oriented to serve the masses .. We found Mr Viz to be a kindred spirit, also outraged by the issue of corruption in Indian governance institutions. As a veteran of over twenty years in the Haryana Legislative Assembly and beginning his fifth term in office, Mr Viz had more than his fair share of stories about the outrages of corruption.

Mr Viz was very enthusiastic about the subject of police reforms stating that although the resolution of the issue was a difficult task to undertake he was certain that team Nishan would be successful and we would see a more ‘Beautiful India’.

Nishan also had the opportunity to talk to members of the press about the campaign, receiving favourable coverage in a number of Haryana newspapers.
