“Better Together” Initiative begins in Haryana from Yamunanagar-25th November 2010

“Better Togeher” iniative began in Haryana from Yamunagar district. Team Nishan got overwhelming response from the District Police of Yamunanagar and the Bar Association of Yamunanagar and the local NGOs. Bhagat Singh Morcha joined the PRPP Campaign with participation in Better Together,

For the launch of “Better Together” initiative in Haryana the response that Team Nishan received from Sh.Sandeep Khirwar,IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Yamunanagar district, reinforced our view that it is only the honest and upringht officers who go all out to support the initiatives that are dedicated to strengthening of the democracy with participation of citizens.

On 25th November, Thursady 2010, staff of Police Station Farrakpur consisting of Constable Parveen Kumar, Head Constable Pawan Kumar & Sub Inspector Radhey Shyam along with volunteers of Team Nishan and representatives of Yamunanagar Bar association Advocate Rajnish Kaushik, addressed the children of Surindra Public school on the role and functioning of civil police in democracy.

Constable Praveen Kumar briefed the children about his role as a constable in preventing the crime through patroling and responding to the individual needs of citizens in distress.Parveen

Children were excited to know that they were interacting with a person who will be available to them in there area of school if they need his support in any situation of distress.

Head Constable Pawan kumar explained how the mechanism gets activated and he responds to it when his police receives a call from the citizen in distress. He highlighted the important role that is played by a Constable and Head constable as the first responders to any and every situation in police response mechanism.Pawan Kumar

Both these front line police officers assured the school staff and its children that it is the job of constabulary that is foundation of policing to serve and protect the citizens and children and citizens should not have any sense of fear from the police.

Sub Inspector Radheshyam Officer Incharge Police Post Gandhi Nagar in whose juridiction the Surindra Public School falls explained to the Students and staff the role of IOs(Investigation Officers) that how the system works after receiving the complaint and the process of investigation uptill filing of ChargeSheet.

Students questioned the police staff that why police takes so much time in responding to citizens calls and the police officers replied that it will never be the case in responding to their calls if any and they can try it out. Students also asked about

prevalent corruption in police to which Police officers replied that if they ever face this situation they must immediately bring it to the notice of senior police officers
