On 26th November 2010 it was history in the making in the life of 149 years old Indian Police when Constable Arun Kumar and Assistant Sub Inspector Ranjit Singh of Himachal Police addressed the young students of Guru Govind Singh Government College on the role of police in democracy and briefed two sessions of more than 400 students on police mechanism and service delivery to citizens in distress.

On the invitation of Miss.Kamlesh Minhash(Retd.Distt.Education Officer) & Mrs.Justice Onkar Singh, Team Nishan launched its PRPP Campaign with “Better Together” Initiative in Himachal Pradesh. The response of Sh.G.Shiva Kumar,IPS, SDPO Paonta Sahib and Inspector Bhishm Singh Thakur, SHO PS Paonta Sahib was quite inspiring from the very first telephone call that was made by staff of Nishan.

complaintTeam Nishan supported by the local police officers and Bar members and community leaders organized presentations to the students of Guru Govind Singh Government college Paonta Sahib, Guru Nanak Mission Public School & NIIT Paonta Sahib.At NIIT Mr.Tarun Bhatia, Director welcomed the Team and Police officers and presented bouquets of flower and appreciated the need of such initiatives to bring attitudinal change. The students expressed their anguish on the evil of gambling among the himachalis and exhorted the police officers to check this menace.
Susana Costa conducted the over all presentation supported by Federica D’Alessandra and Haydee Izaguirre. Constable Arun Kumar and ASI Ranjit Singh from Paonta sahib Police station described the police mechanism in response to citizens calls and grievance redressal system. Advocate Harpreet Singh Shah from Paonta Bar Association detailed the legal remedies available to citizens in case of non registration of an FIR.

At Bar Association Paonta Sahib Team Nishan was welcomed by the Bar President Mr.Trilochan Singh Shah and shared the views on present paramilitary structure of civil police and its pitfalls.
